Questions about the Personal Check Packaging Changes

1. What were the research results when Checkfolio was compared with the traditional checkbox?
We tested Checkfolio against the traditional box head-to-head, and the box came in second. Consumers like Checkfolio because they can quickly scan the checks for both accuracy and quantity. They also like the flexibility of being able to store it in a drawer, filing cabinet or bookshelf.
2. How quickly will Harland Clarke convert all personal check products to Checkfolio?
We see 2012 as a transitional year. Fifty to 60 percent of personal check orders shipped standard bulk will be delivered in Checkfolio by the end of Q1 and 80 to 90 percent by the end of the year. (Exception:products that will not convert to Checkfolio are Top-stub Checks, End-stub Checks, Desk Checks, Security Check Kit, PayPack™, some custom packages, and small packages containing two checkbooks or fewer. Additionally, any products shipping with our CheckProtect® delivery will arrive in a box.)
3. Will delivery be faster or slower with CheckFolio?
The standard delivery for CheckFolio will take up to two weeks - the same as for standard mail for a checkbox.
4. Will CheckFolio allow for trackable delivery?
Orders that are packaged in CheckFolio will be delivered via a standard mail service that does not include tracking capabilities.
5. What should account holders do with their checkbooks?
Account holders can choose to leave the checkbooks in CheckFolio and write their checks "in folio," or they can remove the checkbooks as needed and place them in their checkbook cover.
6. Will directions be included in CheckFolio to tell account holders how to use this new check packaging system?
Yes, there will be an insert in the check order that will introduce CheckFolio to account holders and provide information on how to order a check storage box, if they so desire.
7. Will a storage box be included in check orders that ship in a CheckFolio?
No. Based on the new design and consumer research, we do not anticipate a need for a storage box. If you are asked for a storage box, branches can order a small supply through their normal supply ordering process. Account holders can order a storage box via an online ordering system.
8. Are there covers available that will fit CheckFolio?
Yes. There are two leather jacket styles available for account holder purchase: a Premium Leather Jacket (with a zippered closure) and a Classic Leather Jacket (with a back storage pouch and an elastic band closure). Both styles are flexible, providing for storage with or without a CheckFolio jacket.
9. Will a reorder channel directive appear on CheckFolio for account holder reference?
Yes. In continued support of our strategy to drive consumers to our preferred order channels, OrderMyChecks.com will appear on the standard Harland Clarke CheckFolio.
10. How will account holders store their duplicate checks?
We conducted thorough research on duplicate checkbook use and found that only approximately 50% of consumers return used duplicate checkbooks to their checkbox, 25% store them elsewhere with receipts or tax records, and 25% shred or discard them within one statement cycle. We do not anticipate a need for the traditional check storage boxes, as CheckFolio is the new storage vehicle for checks. However, checkboxes will be available for account holders to order if they require one.
11. Can duplicate checks be reattached in CheckFolio?
No. The "fugitive glue" is designed to be removed from the checkbook backer after removal and is not designed to re-adhere to the CheckFolio jacket.
